DARK HORSE CHIROPRACTIC AND PERFORMANCE
BUILT FOR THE ATHLETE
Nobody knows athletes better than other athletes. This is the mindset Dr. CJ Schuster DC, CSCS has carried with him, even before chiropractic school. Being active in competitive sports allows for Dr. CJ to connect with athletes on another level. Dr. CJ is also a firm believer in application of concepts, whether chiropractic or strength and conditioning, in his own training to gain a better understanding of said concepts. Serving the Kirkland, WA and Greater Eastside region, Dr. CJ is excited to work with you and your performance goals!
PROVIDING THE TOOLS TO HELP YOU SURPASS YOUR GOALS
Nothing fancy about our setup.
Just solid, versatile equipment.
But you don’t need fancy to be effective.
Each piece of equipment in the office has been carefully selected to maximize our humble 130 sq ft space.
We are fortunate to be located within the Lake Washington CrossFit gym, which allows for additional space for barbell movements, plyometrics, and cable exercises if needed.
AS AN ATHLETE, YOU REQUIRE MORE FROM YOUR BODY THAN THE AVERAGE PERSON.
YOUR CHIROPRACTIC CARE SHOULD REFLECT THAT.

“Sports Chiropractic” describes chiropractic care that tailors more towards athletic populations and very active individuals. Often times, this care is characterized by more active rehab and exercises with the top priority to improve performance, rather than purely passive modalities. Moreover, the primary goal is improving performance in sports or specific activities.
“Wellness care” or clinics that describe themselves as “wellness clinics” are geared more towards general population and individuals that don’t necessarily have any sort of performance goals. Often times these clinics perform passive modalities almost exclusively (adjustments, cupping, massage, e-stim, heat/ice, etc.) and do not emphasize exercise.
-
Short answer: yes, Chiropractic care at this office can help with your pain, particularly if it is a musculoskeletal issue (sprain/strain, muscle spasm, joint dysfunction, tendinopathy, sciatic symptoms, etc.).
But
We do not advertise as a clinic that solely focuses on pain for a couple of reasons.
1.) Pain is complex. Often people are looking for a “quick fix” from chiropractors, with the idea that pain operates as an on-off switch. This mindset often leads to poorer outcomes since pain is influenced by so many outside factors. Thus, pain is not a great gauge of progression. Functional improvement is a much better metric for progress.
2.) Often people looking for a “quick fix” have the idea that pain will go away with in office treatment only. This mindset creates higher levels of dependence on getting care in office, which is NOT what we strive for. We strive to give power back to the patient and increase physical independence!
-
No, not necessarily. We treat the patient symptoms, not the x-ray. Static findings or images often do not necessarily imply presence of pain or dysfunction.
-
No… never.
